Dolly Parton Day at Cleveland's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

(CLEVELAND, Ohio)— Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and First Lady Fran DeWine visited the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland today to celebrate the life and legacy of Dolly Parton.

Parton, who died in August, was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. 

Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Tressel issued a proclamation declaring September 25 as Dolly Parton Day in Ohio, a nod to Dolly’s popular song, "9 to 5." The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame held a special "9 to 5 Day" celebration, highlighting the music, stories, and cultural impact that made her one of the most beloved figures in music history.

Of every ticket sold, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is donating $2 dollars to the Literacy Cooperative, Cuyahoga County’s local program partner for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio currently serves more than 432,000 Ohio children every month with a free book in the mail. First Lady DeWine has championed the program since 2019, when she started working to make the program available to all Ohio children from birth to age five. The program has gifted more than 28 million books to Ohio children over nearly eight years.
