Dolly Parton Day at Kroger

(DUBLIN, Ohio)— Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and First Lady Fran DeWine celebrated Dolly Parton Day at Kroger in Dublin this morning. 

Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Tressel issued a proclamation declaring September 25 as Dolly Parton Day in Ohio, a nod to Dolly’s popular song, "9 to 5." 

Kroger is celebrating Dolly Parton Day by inviting customers at Kroger stores statewide to round up at checkout to support local food banks. Kroger will match every dollar raised and make a donation to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio. 

"We wanted to do something special to celebrate Dolly Parton's life, and we are grateful to Kroger and its customers for taking this opportunity to support Dolly Parton's Imagination Library of Ohio," said First Lady DeWine. 

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio currently serves more than 432,000 Ohio children every month with a free book in the mail. First Lady DeWine has championed the program since 2019, when she started working to make the program available to all Ohio children from birth to age five. The program has gifted more than 28 million books to Ohio children over nearly eight years.
